According to a recent poll conducted by social networking site Eons.com, Boomers are changing their summer travel plans because of rising fuel prices. The online survey gathered feedback from 750 community members from June 5 to 19th and revealed that:
- 38% of Boomers are opting to stay home or postpone their vacation travel
- 23% have altered their destination to somewhere closer to home
- 75% are driving less, making fewer trips, visit less and shop online more
- 33% did not allow gas prices to impact their travel plans
As for air travel, USA Today reported that the AAA anticipated a relatively smaller decrease (2.3% ) in the number of Americans flying this past holiday weekend.
